2019 Chicago Auto Show Jeep Highlights
It’s that time of year again: the 2019 Chicago Auto Show is at McCormick Place until Feb. 18! If you couldn’t make it out of Normal to attend the event, Sam Leman Chrysler Jeep Dodge Bloomington is here for you with our coverage on all things Jeep, including the long-awaited 2020 Jeep Gladiator comeback! The Gladiator wasn’t the only star of the show, however: Camp Jeep featured a traction track to test out the 4×4 capabilities on popular Jeep models. Explore this and more with us below!
Camp Jeep Indoor Track Experience
Jeep took all the fun of off-roading in their capable models and brought it indoors with an interactive, 24,000 square foot exhibit. Twenty dump trucks worth of dirt, recycled rubber mulch, and an assortment of towering pine trees truly transformed the space. Suddenly we weren’t in McCormick Place anymore.
There were multiple courses to test out the Trail Rated® toughness, including a ground clearance stair climber, low-crawl boulders, and a massive, 18-foot hill ascent/descent track to test out the Jeep 4×4 traction. Visitors to Camp Jeep had the chance to traverse these obstacles in Jeep off-road namesakes outfitted with the latest accessories, like the 2019 Wrangler and Grand Cherokee. Talk about an immersive experience!
2020 Jeep Gladiator
Now it’s time for what you really came for. The highly anticipated 2020 Jeep Gladiator was on full display, and we can say it lives up to expectations. This off-road mid-size truck hasn’t been in production since 1988, so to say this will be an exciting release is an understatement.
Here’s what we know about the upcoming Gladiator so far:
- The standard engine will be a 285-hp 3.6L V6 paired with an 8-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual transmission.
- There will be two trim levels available at launch, the Sport and the Rubicon, and later additions will be the Sport S and Overland.
- Its maximum towing capacity of 7,650 pounds earns a Best-in-Class tow rating.
Other highlights of the upcoming Gladiator include:
- Trail Rated® 4WD
- Standard Dana® 44 front and rear axles
- Hill-start assist and hill-descent control
- Removable rear seat, top, and doors
- Soft top or hard top
- Forward collision warning
- Apple CarPlay® / Android Auto®
- Remote start and remote keyless entry
These features and much more will be standard or available on the Gladiator. Picturing yourself driving one on Champaign streets already? We don’t blame you! Be sure to keep up with us for updates on the 2020 Jeep Gladiator features and release date.
